AIIMS Deoghar

AIIMS Deoghar, established in 2019, is Jharkhand's All India Institute of Medical Sciences, set in a temple town best known for the Baidyanath shrine. The institute follows the standard AIIMS formula: central funding, nominal fees, MBBS admission exclusively through NEET, and institutional autonomy that separates it from state medical colleges. Its hospital is becoming a referral point for a largely rural region of Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar, which gives students broad clinical exposure, particularly to conditions of underserved populations. Deoghar itself is a small city, so life is quiet and inexpensive, and the campus is residential by necessity. Facilities and faculty are still scaling up, as at all recent AIIMS sites. It suits NEET high-rankers who value the AIIMS degree and mission-driven medicine over metropolitan comforts.
