AIIMS Rishikesh

AIIMS Rishikesh, established in 2012, is one of the newer All India Institutes of Medical Sciences created to spread AIIMS-style medical education beyond Delhi. Admission to MBBS is through NEET-UG, and as a centrally funded institute its tuition is heavily subsidised, which combined with the AIIMS name makes seats intensely competitive. The institute runs its own tertiary-care teaching hospital drawing patients from across Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh, so clinical exposure builds quickly; nursing, dental and pharmacy programmes run alongside. Rishikesh itself is a small, quiet town on the Ganga in the Himalayan foothills — a calmer setting than the metro medical colleges, with Dehradun and Haridwar nearby. It holds a NIRF rank of 28 among medical institutions. It suits students who prioritise the AIIMS brand and government-funded training over big-city life.
