Ambedkar University Delhi, established in 2008 by the Delhi government, deliberately positioned itself as a small, teaching-intensive university for the social sciences and humanities rather than a mass affiliating body. Its best-known campus occupies heritage buildings at Kashmere Gate in Old Delhi, and the university has built a serious reputation in psychology, sociology, development studies and economics, with seminar-style classes and continuous assessment closer to a liberal-arts model than a typical Indian state university. It holds an A grade from NAAC, and fees are modest by Delhi standards because it is publicly funded. Admission to most programmes runs through common entrance channels. It suits students who want rigorous, discussion-driven social science in the capital at public-university cost, and who prefer small cohorts to big-campus anonymity.
