Bengaluru, Bengaluru, Karnataka
Bangalore University, established in 1964, is the big public university of Karnataka's capital, operating from the leafy Jnana Bharathi campus on the city's western side. Most undergraduates encounter it through its network of affiliated colleges across Bengaluru, where its commerce degrees in particular have long been a default choice for the city's students; the campus itself houses postgraduate and research departments. The university holds an A grade from NAAC, and fees across its system are low. Its real asset is position: a public-university degree earned inside India's largest technology and startup economy, where part-time work, internships and jobs are nearby. It suits students who want an affordable, recognised degree — especially in commerce — while living in Bengaluru, with quality depending substantially on the individual affiliated college.
