Central Agricultural University

Central Agricultural University was established in 1993 by an Act of Parliament specifically to serve the north-eastern states, with headquarters in Imphal and constituent colleges distributed across the region. Its teaching spans agriculture and allied sciences, with veterinary science and agricultural degrees the programmes it is best known for; being centrally funded keeps fees low and ties the university into the ICAR research network. It holds an NIRF rank of 24 in its category and an A grade from NAAC. Studying here means small-town and rural campuses rather than metropolitan life, but also close contact with the farming systems of the hills and valleys the university was created to develop.
