College of Engineering Pune

College of Engineering Pune, established in 1854, is among the oldest engineering institutions in Asia, with alumni ranging from the engineer-statesman M. Visvesvaraya onwards. Its 35-acre campus beside the Mula river in central Pune is compact, but the institution's traditions — including its historic boat club — and its deep Maharashtra alumni network carry weight that acreage does not measure. Admission is through the state's engineering entrance counselling, with fees at public-university levels; its cutoffs sit at the top of Maharashtra's engineering tables, and for many students in the state it is the first preference after the IITs and NITs. It holds a NIRF rank of 59 in engineering and an A+ NAAC grade. It suits Maharashtra candidates especially, combining heritage, city location and government fees in one institution.
