CVR College of Engineering is among the stronger self-financed engineering colleges in the Hyderabad region, established in 2001 and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad. Its campus lies at Vastunagar off the Vijayawada highway on the city's south-eastern edge, giving students a residential, out-of-town setting while staying within reach of Hyderabad's software job market. The college holds an A grade from NAAC and a NIRF ranking of 220 in the engineering category, and its reputation rests mainly on its computer science, information technology and electronics branches, which attract the highest cutoffs in state counselling. Admission is through the Telangana engineering entrance process. It suits Telangana and Andhra students who miss the top government seats but want a serious, placement-focused private college rather than a brand-name university.
