Coimbatore, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Coimbatore Medical College, established in 1966, is one of Tamil Nadu's major government medical colleges, attached to a large government hospital that serves the western districts of the state. Coimbatore is Tamil Nadu's second city — industrial, well connected and cheaper to live in than Chennai — and the hospital's catchment brings students a heavy, varied caseload from urban and rural populations alike. The college holds a NIRF rank of 40 and an A grade from NAAC. MBBS is the core programme, with established postgraduate training in general medicine and general surgery and a nursing course attached. Admission is through NEET via Tamil Nadu's state counselling, where cutoffs run high, and fees are at government levels. It suits students seeking high-volume public-sector clinical training in a liveable non-metro city.
