Amravati, Amravati, Maharashtra
Government College of Engineering Amravati, established in 1964, is one of the older government engineering colleges in Maharashtra and the leading technical institution of the Vidarbha region after Nagpur's national institute. It enjoys academic autonomy, which lets it set its own curriculum and examinations, and holds AICTE approval with a NAAC 'A' grade. Computer science and mechanical engineering are its most subscribed branches, and admission through MHT CET at government fees makes its seats sharply contested — for many Vidarbha students it is the best affordable option within reach of home. Amravati is a modest city, so campus life is college-centred and costs stay low, though major recruiters are concentrated in Pune and Mumbai. It suits students prioritising a proven government college and low fees over metropolitan location.
