Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
Government Engineering College Barton Hill in Thiruvananthapuram, established in 1999, is a state-run engineering college set on Barton Hill in the heart of Kerala's capital. Admission is through KEAM counselling at government fees, with AICTE approval and a NAAC 'A' grade, and its seats — computer science above all — are among the more contested in the state system outside the oldest colleges. The capital-city setting is the college's defining feature: the Technopark IT campus, government departments and research centres are all within commuting distance, feeding internships, projects and placement opportunities. Being a city campus, its grounds are compact and much of the student body commutes. It suits Kerala engineering aspirants who value urban access and affordability, particularly those targeting software careers in Thiruvananthapuram's technology sector.
