Hassan, Hassan, Karnataka
Government Engineering College Hassan is a state-run engineering college established in 2007, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and admitting students through Karnataka's KCET counselling. Its chief attraction is the combination familiar across Karnataka's government colleges: very low fees, a recognised VTU degree and a government-college tag that carries weight with local employers. It holds a B++ grade from NAAC and a NIRF ranking of 250. Hassan itself is a calm district town on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru corridor, a few hours from both cities, so campus life is quiet and inexpensive rather than urban. The college covers the core engineering branches, with computer science the most contested at counselling. It suits cost-conscious Karnataka students who prioritise an affordable government seat over big-city exposure and are comfortable in a small town.
