Jabalpur, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh
Government Engineering College Jabalpur — the institution long known as Jabalpur Engineering College — was established in 1947, making it one of the oldest engineering colleges in central India, with an alumni lineage running deep through Madhya Pradesh's public works, power utilities and industry. It teaches the core branches, with computer science and mechanical engineering the most contested through the state's JEE Main-based counselling, under AICTE approval and a NAAC 'A' grade. Government fees make it one of the cheapest credible engineering routes in the state, and its name still carries weight with regional employers and in government-services examinations. Jabalpur is a large, low-cost city with a defence-manufacturing presence. It suits MP students who want heritage, affordability and a strong state-level reputation rather than a fashionable private campus.
