Kozhikode, Kozhikode, Kerala
Government Medical College Kozhikode, established in 1957, is one of Kerala's largest government medical colleges and teaching hospitals, serving as the main tertiary referral centre for the northern Malabar region. That scale is its academic strength: MBBS students see patient volumes and case variety that smaller private colleges cannot match, and tuition is a fraction of private medical fees. Admission is through NEET-UG under Kerala's state counselling, with cutoffs among the steepest in the state; postgraduate training in general medicine and general surgery is similarly contested, and nursing runs alongside. Kozhikode is a liveable mid-sized coastal city with low costs and a strong civic culture. The college holds a NIRF rank of 29 among medical institutions and an A NAAC grade. It suits students who want maximum clinical exposure at government fees.
