Shahdol, Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh
Government Medical College Shahdol, established in 2019, brings public medical education to the remote eastern tribal belt of Madhya Pradesh, a region far from the state's older medical centres in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Indore. Its attached hospital serves as the referral centre for a largely tribal and rural catchment, which gives MBBS students exposure to community health, nutritional and infectious-disease caseloads that metropolitan colleges see less of. The college teaches MBBS with nascent postgraduate departments in medicine and surgery, alongside nursing, holds a NAAC 'A' grade, and admits through NEET under Madhya Pradesh counselling at government fees. Shahdol is a small district town, so life is inexpensive and centred on the campus and hospital. It suits NEET qualifiers who want a government seat and meaningful rural-medicine experience, accepting a young institution's growing pains.
