Ludhiana, Ludhiana, Punjab
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Ludhiana was carved out of Punjab Agricultural University in 2005 to give the state a dedicated university for veterinary and animal sciences. Its B.V.Sc programme is the centrepiece, feeding Punjab's large dairy and livestock economy — the state's dairy belt effectively surrounds the campus, so clinical and field exposure is close at hand — and agriculture-linked degrees run alongside. As a state university its fees are moderate, and veterinary admission runs through NEET-based counselling. Ludhiana is Punjab's largest city, industrial but affordable, with good rail links across the north. The university holds a NIRF rank of 30 in its category and an A NAAC grade. It suits students committed to veterinary practice, animal husbandry or dairy-sector careers, particularly those from Punjab and neighbouring states.
