Hassan, Hassan, Karnataka
Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences is a government medical college established in 2009 and attached to the district hospital in Hassan, Karnataka. Like most newer state medical colleges it was created to expand MBBS capacity outside the big cities, and its government fee structure makes it a heavily contested NEET choice for Karnataka students. Clinical training runs through the attached hospital, the referral centre for the district, which gives students broad general-medicine and surgical caseloads. Postgraduate seats exist in core clinical branches, alongside a nursing programme. Hassan is a calm mid-sized town roughly midway between Bangalore and Mangalore, and cheaper to live in than either. The college suits students prioritising an affordable government MBBS seat and hands-on district-hospital experience over the research infrastructure of older institutions.
