Deoghat, Jhalwa, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
IIIT Allahabad, established in 1999, was one of the first Indian Institutes of Information Technology and remains among the best-regarded of them, with the standing of an Institute of National Importance and a 100-acre campus at Jhalwa on the edge of Prayagraj. Its academic identity is tightly focused on information technology and electronics, and its computer science graduates have a strong record with product and software companies — the placement outcomes are the main reason its JEE Main cutoffs run close to those of mid-tier NITs. The institute holds a NIRF rank of 43 and an A grade from NAAC. Prayagraj is an inexpensive, traditional north-Indian city, and campus life is largely self-contained. It suits students set on computing careers who want a specialised, centrally funded institute rather than a broad engineering college.
