IIIT Bhagalpur

IIIT Bhagalpur was set up in 2017 as one of the public-private partnership IIITs, funded jointly by the central government, the Bihar government and industry partners, and it carries the status of an Institution of National Importance. It began operations hosted on an existing engineering campus in Bhagalpur while its own facilities take shape, so the campus experience is still maturing. The academic focus is Computer Science and Engineering, with B.Tech admission through JEE Main and centralised counselling — making it one of the few centrally recognised computing institutes available to students allotted seats in Bihar. Bhagalpur is an old Ganges-side city in eastern Bihar with modest living costs. The institute suits students who want a CS-focused public institution and statutory degree recognition, and who can accept early-stage infrastructure and a young placement record.
