IIIT Una

IIIT Una, established in 2014, is Himachal Pradesh's institute in the public-private partnership IIIT system, jointly funded by the central government, the state and industry partners, and recognised as an Institution of National Importance. Mentored in its early years by NIT Hamirpur, it has since settled onto its own residential campus at Saloh near Una, in the lower Himachal hills close to the Punjab border. It holds an A grade from NAAC, which distinguishes it among the newer IIITs. Teaching concentrates on Computer Science and Electronics & Communication, with B.Tech admission through JEE Main and centralised counselling. The setting is quiet and self-contained, with little around the campus — a fit for students who want a focused, low-distraction computing education with statutory recognition, less so for those wanting city internships alongside coursework.
