IIM Visakhapatnam

IIM Visakhapatnam is one of the newer Indian Institutes of Management, set up by the central government to extend the IIM network into Andhra Pradesh after the state's bifurcation. Its flagship MBA admits through CAT followed by the institute's own selection rounds, and the degree carries the IIM brand even though the campus lacks the alumni depth of the older IIMs — a trade-off common to every new IIM. Visakhapatnam is a coastal port city with a pleasant setting, a growing industrial base and living costs well below the metros. The institute has been building its permanent campus and recruiter base steadily. It holds a NIRF rank of 29 in management. It suits candidates who value the IIM tag, central funding and faculty standards over legacy networks, or who prefer a smaller cohort and a quieter city.
