Farmagudi, Ponda, Goa
IIT Goa, established in 2016, is one of the youngest Indian Institutes of Technology, operating from Ponda while its 320-acre permanent campus is developed, and it began under the mentorship of IIT Bombay — an association that shaped its early faculty and curriculum. It holds a NIRF rank of 50. Admission is through JEE Advanced, with computer science drawing the strongest ranks among its core engineering branches. Its batches are small even by new-IIT standards, which means unusually close contact with faculty and easy access to research projects, set against the limitations of an institution still building infrastructure and an alumni base. Goa offers a relaxed, safe environment quite unlike the typical engineering-college city. It suits students who want an IIT education, weight small-cohort attention highly and are untroubled by a campus in transition.
