Indian Institute of Technology Jammu

IIT Jammu, established in 2016, is one of the newest Indian Institutes of Technology, operating from its Jagti campus on the outskirts of Jammu and initially mentored by IIT Delhi, whose influence shaped its early faculty recruitment and academic systems. It holds a NIRF rank of 52. Admission is through JEE Advanced, with computer science attracting the strongest ranks among a standard spread of core engineering branches. The young institute's character follows the new-IIT pattern: small batches, close faculty access, growing labs, and an alumni network that is only beginning to form — trade-offs against the mature ecosystems of the older institutes. Jammu is a well-connected northern city with reasonable living costs and the Himalayan foothills nearby.
