NH 62, Nagaur Road, Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur was established in 2008 in the first wave of new IITs and has since moved onto a purpose-built 852-acre campus on the highway outside the city, at the edge of Rajasthan's Thar desert. Being a young IIT, it lacks the alumni depth of the older institutes, but it carries the same brand, the same JEE Advanced admission route and a modern, fully residential campus. Academically it has pushed hard into artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary technology programmes alongside the core engineering branches. It holds a NIRF rank of 28 in engineering and an A grade from NAAC. Jodhpur is a mid-sized heritage city with inexpensive living and reasonable rail and air connectivity. It suits students who clear JEE Advanced and would rather take a newer IIT than a top-tier NIT.
