Pulwama, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir
The Islamic University of Science and Technology at Awantipora in Pulwama district is a state university of Jammu and Kashmir, established in 2005. Despite what the name might suggest, it is a general science-and-technology university: engineering is a mainstay, with Computer Science and Electronics & Communication in demand, alongside programmes across sciences, humanities and management. It holds an A grade from NAAC and serves as the principal university option for south Kashmir, drawing most of its students from the surrounding districts at state-university fee levels. The campus sits on the Srinagar–Jammu highway side of Awantipora, within commuting reach of Srinagar. It suits Kashmiri students who want an affordable, UGC-recognised technical education close to home; recruiters are largely regional and government-oriented, so students targeting national tech placements often route through higher study.
