Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal began in 1960 as the Maulana Azad College of Technology, one of the original regional engineering colleges, and was later elevated into the NIT system. It is among the larger campuses in the group, spread over extensive wooded grounds in the middle of Bhopal, and teaches the full sweep of core branches — civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer science. Admission is through JEE Main and centralised counselling with regulated fees. It holds an A grade from NAAC and a NIRF rank of 80. Bhopal is an affordable, well-connected state capital built around its lakes. It suits students seeking a mid-tier NIT with a spacious residential campus and an established alumni base, particularly those from central India who want the NIT credential within reach of home.
