Vadodara, Vadodara, Gujarat
Medical College Baroda, established in 1949, is one of Gujarat's oldest government medical colleges, attached to the large Sir Sayajirao General Hospital in the centre of Vadodara. The pairing gives students the classic government-college training experience: enormous patient turnover, exposure across specialities, and faculty embedded in the state's public health system, all at government fee levels. The college holds a NIRF rank of 46. MBBS is the core, with long-established postgraduate departments in general medicine and general surgery and a nursing school attached. Vadodara is a cultured, mid-sized city — safer and cheaper than the biggest metros, with good rail connectivity across western India. Admission is through NEET via Gujarat's state counselling, where its seats are among the most contested in the state. It suits students prioritising caseload, pedigree and affordability.
