Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, established in 1948, is one of Madhya Pradesh's oldest government medical colleges and the anchor of public healthcare in Indore, with the large Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital as its principal teaching hospital. The patient load there is enormous, which is the college's real asset: undergraduates and residents alike train on a breadth of cases that few private institutions can match. It holds a NIRF rank of 39 and an A grade from NAAC. MBBS is the core, with long-running postgraduate departments in general medicine and general surgery. Indore itself is a clean, well-run commercial city with affordable student living. Admission is through NEET at government fee levels, and seats are heavily contested. It suits students who want high-volume clinical training in central India at minimal cost.
