Manipal Institute of Technology

Manipal Institute of Technology, founded in 1957, was among the first self-financed engineering colleges in India and is now the flagship engineering school of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. It sits in Manipal, a purpose-built university town near Udupi on the Karnataka coast, where student life revolves around the 600-acre campus, its hostels, labs and sports infrastructure. Computer science and information technology attract the strongest recruiter interest, though the breadth across engineering disciplines is itself a draw. Admission is through the MET entrance test, and fees sit at the premium end of private engineering. With a NIRF rank of 28 in engineering and an A++ NAAC grade, it suits students who miss government seats but want a genuinely residential campus with a large national alumni network and settled placement machinery.
