NEIGRIHMS Shillong

NEIGRIHMS — the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences — was set up in Shillong as a regional institute on the pattern of the big national medical institutions, intended to give the north-eastern states a tertiary-care and teaching centre of their own. Its hospital at Mawdiangdiang is among the most advanced in the region, drawing referrals from across Meghalaya and neighbouring states, and MBBS seats are distributed with the Northeast's states in mind.
