Adityapur, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand
NIT Jamshedpur, established in 1960 as the Regional Institute of Technology, is the National Institute of Technology for Jharkhand, located at Adityapur across the river from Jamshedpur's steel-city core. Its setting in one of India's oldest industrial regions — the Tata company town — gives the institute a long association with core engineering, and mechanical, electrical and metallurgical traditions remain part of its identity even as computer science now draws the highest JEE Main cutoffs. It holds a NIRF rank of 46 and an A grade from NAAC. As a centrally funded NIT, fees are standard and placements draw a national recruiter pool spanning IT and core-sector companies. Jamshedpur is orderly and inexpensive by Indian city standards. It suits JEE Main candidates wanting an established NIT with an industrial hinterland.
