National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur

NIT Jamshedpur, established in 1960 as the Regional Institute of Technology, is the National Institute of Technology for Jharkhand, located at Adityapur across the river from Jamshedpur's steel-city core. Its setting in one of India's oldest industrial regions — the Tata company town — gives the institute a long association with core engineering, and mechanical, electrical and metallurg­ical traditions remain part of its identity even as computer science now draws the highest JEE Main cutoffs. It holds a NIRF rank of 46 and an A grade from NAAC. As a centrally funded NIT, fees are standard and placements draw a national recruiter pool spanning IT and core-sector companies.
