Chaltlang, Aizawl, Mizoram
National Institute of Technology Mizoram, established in 2010, is based at Aizawl and is one of the smallest and most remote members of the NIT system. What it offers is the system's core promise rather than campus grandeur: central government funding, heavily subsidised fees, admission purely through JEE Main and JoSAA, and a degree that carries the NIT name with recruiters nationwide. Cohorts are small, so faculty contact is close, though facilities are still developing and the institute holds a B+ grade from NAAC, modest by NIT standards. Aizawl is a pleasant hill capital, but far from industrial centres, so placements depend on remote drives and the brand. It suits students determined to enter the NIT system at ranks the older institutes will not accept, with clear eyes about the trade-offs.
