Ashok Rajpath, Patna, Bihar
NIT Patna, constituted as a National Institute of Technology in 2004, carries a much older lineage: it descends from the Bihar College of Engineering, one of the earliest engineering schools in the country, and its historic main campus sits on Ashok Rajpath beside the Ganga in the heart of Patna. Admission is through JEE Main and national counselling, with computer science and electronics drawing the highest cutoffs, and the institute holds a NIRF rank of 49 and an A grade from NAAC. As a centrally funded NIT its fees are standard and its degree carries national recognition with recruiters across IT and core engineering. Patna is inexpensive, and the institute has been expanding facilities beyond its compact riverside campus. It suits JEE Main candidates, particularly from eastern India, who want an NIT seat with deep institutional roots.
