GE Road, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
National Institute of Technology Raipur began in 1956 as a government engineering college and was later absorbed into the NIT system, making it one of the older campuses in the group despite its quieter reputation. It sits on a 100-acre campus in the middle of Raipur, Chhattisgarh's capital, and teaches the classic core branches — mechanical and electrical among them — alongside computer science and electronics. Admission is through JEE Main and centralised counselling, and as a centrally funded institute its fees are regulated and predictable. The institute holds a NIRF rank of 66 and an A grade from NAAC. It suits students whose JEE Main rank falls short of the top NITs but who still want the degree recognition, alumni network and structured campus recruitment that the NIT label carries.
