Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, established in 1998 in Bhopal, is Madhya Pradesh's technical university: the institution whose degree stands behind most engineering, pharmacy and management colleges across the state. Students meet it in two ways. Most study at an affiliated college elsewhere and receive its degree; a smaller number join the university's own teaching institute on the Bhopal campus, where the core engineering branches — computer science and electronics foremost — are taught at close to government fees, making its seats markedly better value than most private affiliates. It holds UGC and AICTE approval and an A grade from NAAC. Bhopal is an affordable state capital with growing IT recruitment. Applicants should distinguish carefully between the university's own campus and the very variable quality of colleges that merely affiliate to it.
