Gangtok, Gangtok, Sikkim
Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, established in 1997 at Majitar in the hills below Gangtok, is the engineering school of Sikkim Manipal University and the main technical campus in the state. It holds an A grade from NAAC and teaches the core branches, with computer science the dominant choice, backed by the Manipal group's academic systems and a fully residential campus culture that the location makes inevitable. The setting is its signature: a green Himalayan valley campus on the Teesta river route, cool, quiet and far from metropolitan noise, with Bagdogra the main air link. Living costs are moderate. It suits students who want an established private engineering institute with a recognised group behind it and who actively prefer a self-contained mountain campus to a city college.
