Matunga, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, universally shortened to VJTI, is one of the oldest engineering institutions in Asia, founded in 1887 and now an autonomous institute of the Maharashtra government in Matunga, central Mumbai. Its degree seats are filled through the state's MHT-CET counselling, where its cutoffs sit at the very top among Maharashtra's government colleges — a matter of record in each year's admission lists. Computer science and information technology are the most competitive branches. The institute holds an A grade from NAAC and a NIRF rank of 67, and its alumni network across Mumbai industry runs as deep as only a century-old institution's can. Fees are government-regulated. It suits Maharashtra students with strong MHT-CET ranks who want a top state engineering seat in Mumbai without the JEE Advanced route.
