Guntur, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh
Acharya Nagarjuna University, established in 1976 and named after the Buddhist philosopher associated with the region's ancient learning centres, is the principal state university for the Guntur area, with its campus on the busy corridor between Guntur and Vijayawada. It combines its own postgraduate and professional departments — including law, pharmacy and computer applications — with a large affiliating role for colleges across coastal Andhra, and it runs a substantial distance-education wing. The university holds an A grade from NAAC, and fees are low throughout. Its position near Vijayawada and the developing Amaravati capital region keeps it well connected. It suits students from coastal Andhra Pradesh who want an affordable, recognised public-university degree, particularly at postgraduate level, without moving to Hyderabad or Chennai.
