Ahmedabad University

Ahmedabad University, set up in 2009 by the Ahmedabad Education Society, is a private research university that has deliberately positioned itself around interdisciplinary, seminar-style teaching — small classes, project work and breadth requirements — rather than the mass-lecture model of most Indian private universities. Its campus sits in Navrangpura in central Ahmedabad, embedding students in the city's commercial and institutional life. Engineering and the sciences are taught alongside management and the liberal arts, and the university holds an A grade from NAAC. Fees are at the higher end for the region, and cohorts are intentionally kept small. It suits academically curious students who want a research-flavoured undergraduate education in a major Gujarat city, and who value teaching style and faculty access over big-campus infrastructure or a placement-factory reputation.
