Bhopal, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
Barkatullah University is Bhopal's state university, established in 1970 and later renamed after the freedom fighter Professor Barkatullah. It is the affiliating university for colleges across the Bhopal division, which makes it one of Madhya Pradesh's larger examination and degree-awarding bodies, while its own campus departments teach commerce, law and other disciplines. It holds an A grade from NAAC, and fees are at low state-university levels. Bhopal is an affordable, lake-side state capital with a substantial student population and reasonable connectivity across central India. As with most large affiliating universities, the experience varies considerably between the main campus and the affiliated colleges, so applicants should check where a given programme is actually taught. It suits students from the region seeking an inexpensive, recognised government-university degree, particularly in commerce or law.
