Bathinda, Bathinda, Punjab
Central University of Punjab, established in 2009 at Bathinda, has built an unusually strong academic record for a young university, reflected in its A+ grade from NAAC. Its emphasis is research-led and postgraduate-heavy, with the basic sciences — physics, chemistry, mathematics and the life sciences — forming the core, taught on a new purpose-built campus outside the city. As a central university it charges low fees and admits through CUET, which draws students from well beyond Punjab. Bathinda is a mid-sized Malwa city, affordable and unhurried, with campus life correspondingly residential and self-contained. The university suits academically serious students, particularly in the sciences, who want central-university funding, small cohorts and research exposure at minimal cost, and who do not need a metropolitan setting.
