Dibrugarh University

Dibrugarh University is the principal university of Upper Assam, established in 1965 and serving a large catchment of districts in the state's east. It holds an A grade from NAAC and combines campus teaching with an affiliating role for colleges across the region. Commerce, law and management are among its established offerings, making it a practical destination for students who want professional degrees without leaving Assam. Dibrugarh itself is a tea-industry town on the Brahmaputra, smaller and considerably cheaper to live in than Guwahati, with the university forming one of its main institutional centres.
