Dr. S. R. K. Government Arts College, Yanam

Dr. S. R. K. Government Arts College serves Yanam, the small Puducherry enclave on the Godavari delta surrounded by Andhra Pradesh, and has done so since 1967. Affiliated to Pondicherry University — a central university, whose degree its students receive — the college teaches arts, science and commerce, with commerce and mathematics among its steadier draws, and it holds a NAAC 'A' grade. Its role is essentially access: for students in Yanam and the neighbouring delta towns, it is the local route to an affordable recognised degree without moving to a distant city, at government-college fees under Puducherry's administration. It suits students who want a low-cost undergraduate or postgraduate degree close to home, with the benefit of a central-university affiliation, rather than a large campus experience.
