Gwalior, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
Jiwaji University in Gwalior, named after the Scindia ruler Jiwajirao, was established in 1964 and serves as the affiliating state university for the Gwalior–Chambal region, with a large number of colleges teaching its syllabus. Its own campus houses postgraduate departments across the arts, sciences and social sciences — English and the social sciences are long-running strengths — with study at state-university fees. NAAC has graded it A. Gwalior is an affordable, historically rich city on the Delhi–Bhopal rail trunk, with a substantial student population built around university study and competitive-exam preparation. Campus life has the flavour of an old public university: big departments, mixed infrastructure, active student politics. It suits students from northern Madhya Pradesh who want an economical, recognised postgraduate education or a base for civil-services preparation; it is not a placement-driven campus.
