Kolkata, Kolkata, West Bengal
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, established in 2000 and formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology, is the state's technical university, affiliating a large share of Bengal's private engineering, management and pharmacy colleges while also teaching on its own campus. It holds an A+ grade from NAAC and approvals spanning AICTE and the pharmacy regulator. Its own programmes run from computer science engineering to pharmacy and management, with the technology courses forming the core. Being anchored to Kolkata gives students a major metro's resources at living costs lower than the other big Indian cities. The university suits students who want a government technical university degree in Bengal, or who are comparing it against the private colleges it itself affiliates.
