Pettigrew College

Pettigrew College in Ukhrul is named after William Pettigrew, the missionary who pioneered modern education in Manipur's hills, and since 1965 it has been the principal government college serving the Ukhrul district and the Tangkhul Naga community. It operates under Manipur University's degree system and holds an A grade from NAAC — a notable achievement for a small hill-town college. Teaching is undergraduate and modest in range, with commerce among its established offerings. What the college offers is access: for students in this remote, mountainous part of Manipur, it is the realistic route to a recognised degree without relocating to Imphal or further afield, at government-college fees.
