Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42

Post Graduate Government College for Girls in Sector 42 is one of Chandigarh's established women's colleges, run by the administration since 1982 and teaching under Panjab University's degree system. It carries an A grade from NAAC and offers a broad undergraduate spread across arts, science, commerce and computer applications, with postgraduate options in subjects such as English and commerce. The appeal is a familiar combination: government-college fees, a women-only environment that many families in the region specifically want, and a Panjab University degree with its long-standing recognition in north India. Chandigarh adds its own advantages — a safe, planned, cycle-friendly city with good hostels and coaching infrastructure for competitive examinations. It suits students from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal seeking an affordable, reputable women's college in a comfortable city, rather than a research-intensive university.
