Ziro, Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh
Saint Claret College at Ziro, run by the Claretian missionaries, has since 2003 brought a structured, well-administered undergraduate education to one of Arunachal Pradesh's most remote and beautiful settings — the Ziro valley, home of the Apatani community. It teaches arts, science and commerce subjects — English, history, physics, chemistry and commerce among them — under the state university's degree system, holds UGC recognition, and carries an A grade from NAAC, a strong signal for a small hill college. The Claretian management brings the discipline and teaching seriousness their institutions are known for across India. For students of the valley and central Arunachal, it is the realistic route to a recognised, affordable degree without moving to Itanagar or the plains. Facilities are modest and local employment is limited, so many graduates proceed to postgraduate study elsewhere.
