Scottish Church College Kolkata

Scottish Church College, founded in 1830 by the missionary-educator Alexander Duff, is among the oldest liberal-arts colleges in Asia still in continuous operation, and its alumni ledger runs through Bengal's intellectual and political history — Swami Vivekananda studied here. Today it is a church-run, government-aided college affiliated to the University of Calcutta, teaching humanities and sciences from its heritage campus in north Kolkata, with English, economics, history and the natural sciences as mainstays. It holds an A grade from NAAC and a NIRF rank of 84, and fees remain modest. The buildings are historic rather than modern, and that is rather the point.
