Mysuru, Mysuru, Karnataka
The University of Mysore, founded in 1916 under the patronage of the Wadiyar rulers, was among the earliest universities established in India outside the colonial presidencies, and its Manasagangotri campus in Mysuru remains one of Karnataka's principal centres for postgraduate study in the humanities, sciences and commerce. The university holds an A+ grade from NAAC and a NIRF rank of 44. Its strengths are traditional academic ones — established departments, large libraries and a deep research culture — rather than corporate placement machinery, and its degrees carry long-standing recognition across Karnataka's public institutions. Mysuru itself is a calm, inexpensive heritage city with a good quality of life for students. Fees are at state-university levels. It suits students pursuing postgraduate arts, science or law who value an affordable, established public university over a placement-driven private campus.
